2025 | VOLYŃ '43 – Behind the Scenes of History series, episode 224
This year, the Polish Parliament passed a law establishing July 11 as the National Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Genocide Perpetrated by the OUN-UPA in the Eastern Borderlands of the Second Polish Republic. The battle for this law lasted over 20 years and ended with legislative success. However, the question remains: why did a mass murder of Poles take place on Sunday, July 11, 1943? Were the perpetrators of these crimes punished?
Journalist Rafał Dudkiewicz's guest is Dr. Joanna Karbarz-Wilińska – historian at the Institute of National Remembrance's Historical Research Office in Gdańsk.

We will look behind the scenes, trying to understand how the machine of history works, and to what extent individual decisions have influenced our fates—both individually and collectively.
